Fall off, and Get back up

Ok, so I just did night four of Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred.  I was able to maintain the five straight days of yoga in the morning this last week, but Thursday, I injured my shoulder a bit and also had so much work to do, I didn’t get a chance to do JM that night.

Friday I was just exhausted, but that’s why I’ve set up my weekends to be flex days to make up for any I might miss during the week.  This also means I’ll be doing level one of JM 30 Day Shred for the next seven days in addition to my already planned out morning yoga.

I could feel the difference tonight just taking those two days off in my performance of the workout.  Gotta stick with it!  I think I’m seeing a difference in my core already, but that could just be wishful thinking.  I won’t be checking until I finish level one of JM next weekend.

Official Day 1!

Okay, so I made it through day one! Got up at 6 am this morning and did 20 minutes of yoga before heading to training for my new job.  Today wasn’t the greatest day, as I didn’t sleep well last night. I woke up at 3:30, used the bathroom, and just never really fell back asleep before I had to get up.  It made for a long, slow day.  I got home around 2, ate a late lunch, and took a nap.  Then I hit Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred, round one.   I know I’m going to feel it in the morning when I get up to do it all over again.  Hopefully I can at least sleep better tonight.

Let's Get This Rolling....

Wow my first journal entry of what I hope to be many, many more.  I’m hoping this journal will help keep me on track.  See, I’ve wanted to get back into shape for a while.  Not that I’m overweight or anything, but I am certainly not where I used to be and not where I want to be.

I’m 5’2”, and last I checked, about 122 lbs.  I was 105 when I graduated high school a few years ago, and in pretty decent shape.  I’d love to get back down to 110 and tone my tummy, thighs, and arms back up.  I know many people out there struggle with body image issues and body weight issues, and I don’t claim to be one of those people who have a much bigger challenge than I do; I am not trying to undermine their desires with what sounds like a petty issue.  I just know I can be better than where I am.

I was planning to start a Detox yoga program tonight, as a way to easy my way back into fitness, but after eating dinner, I got hit with a headache, and just didn’t feel that I could endure the one hour session.  It’s a disappointment that isn’t at all surprising to a life-long procrastinator like myself, but I just have to pick myself up and move on.

My fitness plan for the next few weeks will hopefully not only get me back in shape, but get me on a healthier eating and sleep schedule.  As it is, I’ve always had a fast metabolism, but everything helps.  And I’ve always been a night owl that gets at most 6 hours of sleep in a night, usually somewhere around 5.  I’m hoping with this schedule I’ve lined out for myself, I’ll have a guide to keep me more focused and self disciplined.

My exercise plan for the next 6 weeks or so consists of the following: Monday through Friday will have two workouts, one 20-40 minute yoga routine in the morning before going to work, and 30 minute kick- my-ass routine from Jillian Michael’s workout, 30-Day Shred at night after dinner and before my nightly Skype date with my hubby who is currently deployed.  Sunday and Saturday will have the one hour Detox yoga routine or be flex/rest days, depending on how I’m feeling and what’s going on with work and school.  At the end of those six weeks, depending on how I feel about my fitness progression, I will either move onto another of Jillian Michael’s videos with a mix of yoga and belly-dancing fitness or I will try out the Insanity workout.

I need to head to bed at this point so I can be rested up for my first yoga session at 6 am before heading to a new job training that is going to last the week.  I am planning to take some before pictures and measurements before I turn off the light, and I plan on posting them along with my daily log tomorrow night.  Wish me luck, and if you have any comments, insights, or tips, PLEASE, PLEASE post below.
